Honey Springs Interpretive Programming

Just a reminder that it's time for our new calendar year programs to begin!

On 16th March (1 pm - 4 pm) our periodic Saturday afternoon "Civil War Life" program with feature the 10th Kansas Volunteer Infantry reenactors in camp, [The purpose of these programs is to show that there was much more to the war than shooting at each other. Here the public can visit with "soldiers" as they go about routine life: mending socks, writing (or reading) letters, drilling (with perhaps an old sergeant trying to teach someone which is his "left" foot), etc. These programs vary among artillery, cavalry, infantry, and civilians/refugees, so the public can have a variety of experiences. Other spring programs are scheduled for 13th April and 11th May. These programs are presented at no charge.]

ALSO, on 16th March 2002 (7 pm - 8:45 pm beginning on the quarter-hour) will be our annual "Candle Light Tour" in which groups of up to 15 will be escorted through a series of eight vignettes depicting the conflict in the Indian Territory. Each tour will last approx. 45-55 minutes. [There is a charge of $3/adults, $1/children aged 6-18; reservations are required by phoning 918-473-5572.]

I hope that many of you will be able to attend these or others of our programs!
