A detachment of four companies of the 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles, commanded by Senior Captain William Gipson, was engaged in the action at Chustenenlah, Indian Territory, on December 26, 1861. Following are the casualties sustained by the detachment--

Co. A--First Lieutenant John T. Scott, commanding.
Private Mathew G. Blaylock, wounded.
Private Wiley C. Eppler, badly wounded.
Private James G. Humphrey, wounded.

Co. B--Second Lieutenant William J. Caldwell, commanding.
Private Ephraim A. Darr, wounded, lost arm.
Private John M. Ferguson, horse killed.
First Corporal William C. McArthur, wounded.

Co. C--Captain James M. King, commanding.
Private Robert D. Bolton, wounded.
Private John H. Bradford, badly wounded.

Co. E--First Lieutenant Jonathan W. Callaway, commanding.
No casualties reported.
