Thomas Jefferson Manning

Thomas Jefferson Manning graduated University of Nashville (now Vanderbilt) in 1855 and began his medical practice in 1856 at Doaksville, Indian Territory. He was physician/surgeon for soldiers at Ft. Towson and the Choctaw Nation.
He enlisted in the General Douglas H. Cooper's Regiment and served Sim Folsom's Choctaw/Chickasaw Battalion as Staff Surgeon. Commissioned a Captain, he was surgeon at the battles of Pea Ridge and Newtonia.
Thomas married Matilda Elizabeth LeFlore, daughter of Forbis LeFlore and Rebecca Fisher LeFlore, in 1857. Both he and Matilda, my GGGrandparents, are buried in the Manning Family plot in Caddo, OK, with most of their children.
