Biographies Needed

The Honey Springs Battlefield of the Oklahoma Historical Society is collecting biographical information (and a photo from any period, if available) for men who were involved in the Battle of Honey Springs, 17 July 1863.

The bios/photos will be displayed on three walls in the conference room of the permanent visitors center. In the future, when we've been "flooded" with bios and photos, they'll have to be rotated, of course. But for the first few months or years the ones we receive now will be up the longest. These also will be used in the temporary visitors center while we're waiting construction of the permanent building.

We'd like a biographical sketch that includes any or all of the following: (1) when/where born, (2) parents, (3) siblings, (4) activities before war, (5) war service, (6) activities after war, (7) wife and children, (8) when/where died/buried.

Original photos can be copied and returned to owner, if desired. These should be sent to Honey Springs Battlefield, 1863 Honey Springs Bfld. Rd., Checotah, OK 74426-6301.

Or if you have biographical info, but no photo, it can be sent by e-mail to ralphjones@ok-history.mus.ok.us (and save the postage!).

Thanks!!!
