Having a biology minor I find this interesting as well. The difference in the way a vaccine is adminstered now and the way they were then is also interesting. A point that I probably skimmed over in the article is that with the limited knowledge of bacteriology at the time the impliments used were not sterilised between uses, and possibly not washed. This could lead to Britton's concern of vaccine from clean sources, transfering illnesses other than the intended vaccine easily. It is also interesting to look into all of the medical advancemnts brought into existance quicker because the military needed to help save soldiers and sailors, and now help us all.
