Another map of the vicinity of the Wichita Agency from an 1879 map. After the war, the Wichita Agency was reopened at what became Anadarko, a few miles to the east.
The 'squares' are the township outlines. This part of Indian Territory had already been surveyed, as had the Chickasaw Nation, by 1879. The Cherokee, Creek (Muscogee), and Choctaw Nations were not surveyed until the 1890s.
You might note that the locations of the creeks don't match up well with modern maps, relative to the townships. This is most likely an inaccuracy in the map but may indicate that the creeks and/or river changed course. Floods over the years made significant changes to the courses of some rivers and streams.
