I agree, Jerry. When a particular source is inaccurate, it draws all information from that source into question. If a source is repeatedly inaccurate, naturally anything from that source is highly questionable.

I'm not surprised that Phillips didn't have good information on the locations, movements, and commanders of the enemy, especially considering he was operating 'behind enemy lines' (i.e., south of the Canadian and Arkansas). He may not have been familiar with the local geography and his maps would not have been highly accurate. However, in general, Phillips' reports seem fairly accurate based on corroborating information from other sources.
