The key element is McIntosh's reports, if there are any. They may have knew where they were, better decribed than 8 miles from the Texans on Browns Creek Near Slick. I also think they may have known some numbers attacking them.

Finding this information is important to the find. Not to mention it's importance in Oklahoma History.
