This is pretty off topic (so Jim can delete it!) but the "Cherokee tribe" didn't disown anyone. There were a lot of Cherokee who abandoned their country and then came back later, often generations later, wanting to be citizens. When they weren't accepted, they claimed they were "disowned" by their tribe. That's like saying Ireland has disowned me because they don't accept me as a citizen and my great grandmother was a full blood!
