Well, so far, nothing too earth shaking. On March 21, 1864 Gen. Richard Gano requested a report on the state of the Rangers arms from Col. Martin. He indicated that 1/3 had shotguns another 1/3 had everything from squirrel rifles and Belgium rifles and the rest had no weapons at all.
No mention of revolvers or sabers. Nothing found yet on clothing, but I suspect that it was a heavy mix of civies and captured Union gear. I saw one image of a ranger (not the 5th) wearing a "hickory shirt" and Union issue trousers that were WAY too big for him. (Musta been Fatty Arbuckle's grandpa's) He had suspenders, a slouch hat and an 1851 belt. The Partisans, along with Stand Watie's Indians captured a Union supply train on Sept. 20, 1864. Their haul ? Some 225 wagons, 1.5 million dollars in Union property and $500,000 cash. They were ordered to Marshall Texas in Feb of '65 and dismounted and told to prepare for an attack of the Texas coast via New Orleans, but it never came. They were disbanded in May.I can cite my sources if you need it.
