Lars, I never said he was a Great General, but I would like to clear up a discrepancy here. Albert Pike was championing the labeled Civilized Indians, not the Comanches and such. But bigotry in those days did not extend to the individual tribes, it went to any Indian. You are correct about de-linking the area from the Indian Wars. But in that same frame the Chickaswas were working with the whites and giving the Texans permission to come into Chicksaw lands to persue the Comanche and Kiowa.

So while Pike was over his head where he was at he was outgunned by an inferior General who was pleasing Davis, at Pikes expense.

I just don't feel we need to let Pike be thought of in an incorrect Bad light,,,,
