1st Choctaw & Chickasaw Bugler

I'm trying to locate more information on Nathaniel J. Oquin who was listed on the CW Soldiers & Sailors System as Chief Bugler in Well's Batt'n, TX Cavalry (Film #M227, Roll 27).

I also have information that he enlisted with the Confederate Cavalry in Company I of the 1st Regiment, Choctaw and Chickasaw Mounted Rifles. That information says that he mustered in on July 8, 1861 at Nails Bridge, Indian Territory and served as bugler for Captain Welch's company. He may have been slightly wounded at the battle of Chusto-Talasah on Bird Creek on December 9, 1861.

He is also shown on the roster of the 29th TX Cavalry. The OR shows a recognition by Col. Douglas H. Cooper for "my young bugler, Nathaniel J. O. Quine" (obvious misspelling) after an engagement in Indian Territory (Series 1, Vol. 8, Page 10 (begins on Page 5)).

My family was from Missouri and Nathaniel was the only Confederate. My ggf, George Marion Oquin (see http://www.missouricivilwarmuseum.org/oquin-george.htm) went to Texas after the war searching for Nathaniel, but never found him. I would like to find out if Nathaniel survived the war and settled in OK or died during the war.
