Hi Grant,
The elder African Creek William McIntosh was a slave of Roley McIntosh. He had a son--also named William McIntosh, who became a slave of D.N. McIntosh and later became a leader in the African Creek community after the Civil War . Una McIntosh was the son of the Creek chief William McIntosh who was executed in 1825 for signing the corrupt treaty of Indian Springs. As you know following the geneology of people who were slaves in the Creeks Nation can sometimes be a confusing process. With the McIntosh family it gets more confusing still. Chief McIntosh's children (D.N., Roley, Chilly, Jane and Rebecca especially)inherited Chief McIntosh's slaves and there appears to be quite a bit tranferring ownership between them. Maybe this conversation belongs more properly on the African Native American Geneaology site. I hope this helps.
