McKittrick; 18th TX Cav; 29th TX Cav

Vance Hawkins,

Your George W. Bull is not listed in McKittrick's Texas Company of Mounted Denton Rangers organized in May 1861. He was probably acquainted with some of McKittrick's men and simply rode with them to Fort Arbuckle for the Jun 2, 1861 muster Company "I" of Choctaw-Chickasaw Mtd. Rifles that became Company "E" of the 29th Texas Cavalry when their one-year enlistment was up. The 29th Texas Cavalry was commanded by Charles DeMorse, editor of THE NORTHERN STANDARD, Clarksville, Red River County, TX

Confederate States of America, not Texas State Troops

Tarleton D. Bull, mustered Feb 1862, at age 16, for one year into Capt. McKittrick's Company "G" in "Col. Darnell's 18th Texas Cavalry Regiment, into service of the Confederate States, in the Provisional Army."

Tarleton then joined his brother, Cpl. G.W. Bull, in Company "E" of DeMorse's 29th TX Cav.
