I have tried to identify your "Jackson" that was killed in the Battle of Round Mountain. ..Col. James Bourland, an aide to D.H. Cooper, brought many of the participants of the Round Mountain events from North Texas.
.
Please send me what you know about your "Jackson" who was killed at Round Mountain.
.
He was possibly in Stewart’s Company “I” of Sims’ 9th Texas Cavalry. ..In my book I have two different listings of Charles S. Stewart’s Company “I”: one from The BOURLAND PAPERS and the other from Broadfoot’s TEXAS CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS.
1) I do not have any "Jacksons" listed in Capt Stewart’s Company. ..I have several "Jacksons" from the Titus
County area where most of Capt. C.S. Stewart’s men resided.
2) Two men in Stewart’s Company “I” of Sims’ 9th Texas Cavalry had the Christian name of “Jackson”: “John
Jackson Short” and “Jackson Jones”.
*****************************
Note: Some simply went to the scene of the battle without the benefit of enrolling or mustering because their friends were there.

3) One Smith was killed. ..The Smith’s listed Stewart’s Company “I” of Sims’ 9th Texas Cavalry were:
A.J. Smith
Benjamin Smith
Thomas Smith, b-1838
William B. Smith
