I like the way you put that, Patti: "yours truly, would like to document this event with at least one more "hearsay" reference." Like you said, "even hearsay helps compile our history". That is so true. While some (most?) hearsay may be inaccurate, wholly or in part, many times it is the clues that put us on the path to find more reliable sources or, at least, corraborating sources.

We all have to use our best judgement to evaluate how reliable a source "seems" to be. The early Chronicles of Oklahoma articles have the advantage that some 'old timers' were still living but many of the articles are written from local lore, as opposed to those authored by respected historians and/or based on rigorous research.
