Hey gang,
I thought you might like to see a slide show of a recent monument dedication to the 1st Kansas Colored Infantry at the Cabin Creek Battlefield Park near Pensacola, Oklahoma. The 1st Kansas Colored holds two distinctions as a regiment. 1 - the first black infantry regiment to be engaged in combat (Island Mound, Missouri - Oct. 1862) and the first black soldiers to fight alongside white soldiers in American history (first battle of Cabin Creek, July 1-2, 1863).
