Re: Muster Out Rolls Co G, 3rd IHG

I wondered if someone would ask that question. As I transcribed this set of documents my thoughts fell back to a time when I knew I was going home form my first war. As I was in a free fire zone and carrying more ammo than I wanted, I simply fired up everything I had except for a couple mags. In the case of the IHG troops I suspect they had a little celebration prior to muster out, noting that the first sergeant was also included in the charge off. A good first sergeant would never allow such a waste. Captain Phillips probably allowed it with the proviso that they paid for that fun, the reason being that all officers were accountable financially for all unauthorized ordnance expenditures. That was my thoughts on the matter.
