Re: Stand Watie Service Record
In Response To: Stand Watie Service Record ()

Iris,

I am a mixed-blood Cherokee and member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, with approximately twenty (20) grandfathers and uncles in the 1st (Watie's) and 2nd (Adair's) Cherokee Mounted Volunteers. Two (2) of these uncles were Lieutenant Colonels in these organizations, Thomas Fox Taylor and Oliver Hazard Perry Brewer.

I would also be interested in seeing Stand Watie's Compiled Military Service Records. From the indexes, he actually has two (2) CMSR's, one in the 1st Regiment, Cherokee Mounted Volunteers, CSA and a second in General and Staff Officers, Non-Regimental Enlisted Men, CSA. If you'd like to order these records through the message boards at the link below, I'll be happy to provide both records for the price of one. You'll also be helping us pay for these sites, as a part of your purchase helps to cover our expenses.

With best regards,

Jim Martin
