Below is an edited GNIS-Google Map image of the location of what is now called Battle Creek. As you can see, the creek seems to come from further to the northwest. And, of course, the creek flowed all the way to the Grand (Neosho) River through what is now called North Bay on Ft Gibson Lake. Flat Rock Creek runs across the top of the image into what is now Flat Rock Bay. Blue Mound, shown in the lower left may be from where Gano spied the hay camp. The vicinity of Battle Creek, as opposed to Flat Rock Creek, fits better with the 12 mile distance to Ft Gibson mentioned in some reports.
