After I had exchanged messages with you Ken I went digging into the OR's in Vol. XXXIV and found it also. There seems to be only a slight variation from the one I have. This is typical considering that often the adjutants made copies and sent them to various headquarters. The one I have seems to have been sent to Gen. Curtis. Still this particular document raises some serious questions as to the state of mind of Phillips and his men when they started their campaign south of the Arkansas. I have little doubt that wounded prisoners were murdered at Middle Boggy justified by this circular. This may be a key as to why Phillips himself had never personally published his memoirs. As related earlier the IT was not a place to be if you were a civilian in early 63 or 64. By that time there was too much bad blood between both sides.
