Hi Stephen,
There is loads of material at the Gilcrease on the Civil War. The Samuel Bell Maxey Papers are housed there running into several hundred items which would be useful to anyone wanting to get a closer look from the top on Confederate operations in the I. T. Also the John Drew Papers there give a very bird's eye-lowdown on Drew's Cherokee Regiment and the events and decisions made that resulted in the pursuit and attack on Opothleyahola (not much insight into the location of the Battle of Round Mountain, however). Also, some of John Ross's and William P. Ross's papers are there as well as Peter Pitchlyn's. Part of the Grant Foreman Collection is there also that has dozens of pages of transcribed Civil War records and interviews. That's just off the top of my head. You are right that it is a really overlooked resource for information on the Civil War in the Indian Territory. I have a copy of the Guide to the Manuscripts at the Gilcrease at the office and I'll post more entries tomorrow if anyone is interested. Good hunting, eveyone.

Gary
