Stephen, I didn't know there was a "general theory". What's the source of that? Based on my limited knowledge (from the ORs, The Clarksville Standard, and Wagon Boss & Mule Mechanic), it appears to me the action covered a rather large area but the Confederates did prevent the men of the 1st Kansas Colored from reaching the timber line of Grand River. This would suggest to me that most of the action occurred west of what is now Ft Gibson Lake.
