My great great grandfather James Ballard was living in Chicksha, OK when they took him to the Confederate Home in Ardmore, Carter, OK in 1911..I am trying to find out how they new he was a Conf. soldier and why he was taken to Confederate Home...I'm sure he must have ben indigendent but I can't be sure.....His tombstone says GUARD FOR ALBERT SIDNEY JOHNSON(I THINK THEY MEANT JOHNSTON)...what records would be available to make this stone in 1915 when he died.

Any help will be greatly appreciated
