Re: Summer reenactments
In Response To: Summer reenactments ()

2008 is the year for Honey Springs Battlefield historic site to host the OHS co-sponsored event. The free "school day" will be held Friday, 26 September, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for public-, private-, and home-school students, teachers, and chaperones. Because of the large number of students who participate it is most helpful to us if reservations are made for larger groups (but small groups of 2-9 students can probably join another tour with no problem). Reservations for school groups should be called in to 405-522-0692 or e-mailed to karnold@okhistory.org. In 2002 there were 978 students/teachers; in 2005 there were more than twice that number!

The public program dates are Saturday and Sunday, 27-28 September, with the camps and program areas open each day at 9:00 a.m. (closed @ 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 3:00 p.m. Sunday). Of course, the battlefield with its 6 interperted walking trails will be open extra hours [8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. including Sunday].

There will be an admission fee of $5.00/person (aged 13+) and there is no fee waiver for OHS members as this is a special event co-sponsored by an outside group.
