Honey Springs Reenactment

While we're on the topic of enactments, this is the year for the one at Honey Springs Battlefield.

The free "School Day" (for public-, private-, or home-school students with reservations) will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, 26 September 2008.

The public days will be Saturday-Sunday, 27-28 September. The daily cost is $5.00/person (aged 13+). The Honey Springs battle (Federal victory) will be staged at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and a generic battle (Confederate victory) will be staged Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The actual battlefield is open every day (except Monday and Holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and has six walking trails with 55 interpretive signs. During the reenactment weekend, the trails areas will be kept open until dusk. The soldiers' camps will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and will close at 3 p.m. Sunday. As in the past there will be drilling and other soldierly activities during the mornings, a Saturday night dance for the reenactors and their ladies, and a Sunday morning period church fellowship.

All y'all come!!!
