The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

It seems there were some Officer's that did not know their history very well. Such as Col. Phillips calling Ft. Holmes by the wrong name.
I read in Chronicles of Oklahoma that there was an iron bridge over Little River that was burned or destroyed during the Civil War.
Would Phillips have buried his dead near the skirmish site at Middle Boggy? Would they have marked the graves with a board or took the time to scatch something on a rock?
