"... From O'Beirne's LEADERS AND LEADING MEN IN INDIAN TERRITOY (pub 1891), p268. "John E. Carr" was born in the Choctaw Nation near Doaksville, I.T. on Jan 24, 1849. His father, Rev. J. H. Carr, was a Methodist minister and in an early day came from Tennessee to Indian Territory, where in 1853 he established the Bloomfield Academy for the the Chickasaw Nation. Acting as the principal for a number of years. It is now (1891) one of the public schools. ..."

look for an illustration of a bust of Winchester Colbert from Thoburn's HISTORY OF OKLAHOMA (pub 1908) plus the 1863 letter that Rev. John Newton Hamill wrote for him (as Colbert's attorney). Again, Rev. Hamill was a jurist in the trial during the October 1862 Great Hanging of Gainesville, Texas.
