The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Thanks for the info Elmer. I found that the complete text of With the Light Guns is online at http://cdm.sos.mo.gov/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/shscivilwar&CISOPTR=2539&REC=18&CISOSHOW=2424

It is page images as opposed to text or I would cut and paste an excerpt here.

The battery moved west from Ft Smith to North Fork Town before taking the Texas Road south to Ft McCulloch. When it was sent to Little Rock, it traveled to Boggy Depot (which is actually northwest of Ft McCulloch... maybe to get supplied or to connect with a better road) and then to Doaksville/Ft Towson and then to Center Point, AR.

I think Dawson's 19th Ark. Inf. took the same route from Ft McCulloch and perhaps the same route there from Ft Smith (Not sure on this).

Woodruff relates an interesting story, which I had read before in the Chronicles of OK, regarding Plains Indians coming to see the cannons.
