Ken Martin,
..
I just looked at the Bureau of Land Management’s online Pittsburg County township “twp 5S ran 14E” and “twp 6S ran14E”, which is where McAlester is located and did not find “Scalesville” or "Buckluxy".

I will post the results on my website after I type it.

Initially, I too, read the following paragarph in Brown's ALBERT PIKE when I was questioning exactly where Scalesvile was located, i.e., which of today's Oklahoma counties, and immediately thought of now Pittsburg Co OK. ..The CHRONICLES OF OKLA article threw cold water on that thinking, hence, the above query.
.
" ... On Mar 21 Pike issued orders to Major Quesenbury to proceed at once to Scalesville, Choctaw Nation, a trading station situated a few miles below the Canadian at the junction of the Missouri-Texas and Fort Smith-California roads (later the site of McAlester), to select and purchase a site and to erect buildings for a new headquarters for the Department of Indian Territory. Pike reasoned that he would have in front of him all the roads north of the Canadian by which the enemy could advance. ..."

re: Bureau of Land Management’s surveys of the Oklahoma Counties online. At this point I have scanned the surveys of about 8 counties. ..I found the most info on the Garvin County (location of Initial Point and Fort Arbuckle) surveys, less on Murray County surveys, and the rest have been disappointing because they have very few names.
.
Garvin County, where I was reared, had 1871 and 1899 surveys. But since I scour libraries for original records, I'll scan every survey of the Oklahoma counties South of the South Canadian River, even if the only printed words are "slough" and "trail".
