I just found a roll of members of the 6th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry. Listed is Alexander McDonald who joined July 25, 1863 and was mustered out May 22,1865 at DeVall's Bluff ARK. He is shown as a private in Company G and a resident of the Cherokee Nation. There are a couple of other McDonalds in the 6th Kansas, Donald McDonald and David R. McDonald who both were members of Company B but their residence is not shown. Is this Alexander McDonald the same as the Ft. Scott Sutler partnership McDonald and Fuller? As a resident of the Cherokee Nation was Alexander a Native American...Cherokee or Delaware, or was he just living at Ft. Gibson?
