Re: Rev. John Harpole Carr, Camp Carr?
Regarding Nathan Cochran... There was a Nathan Cochran that was a Chickasaw Freedman who stated he had been the slave of Jincy Cochran. Jincy Cochran nee Bohannan was the wife of R.L. Cochran. R.L. Cochran is listed as the owner of several slaves on the 1860 Slave Schedule for the Chickasaw county of Pontotoc. I might speculate that Freedman Nathan Cochran was named after Nathan Cochran b. 1811, a white living with the Chickasaw, and further that this Nathan was the father of R.L. Cochran.
So... Anybody aware of the older Nathan Cochran or Jincy Bohannan? The connection here is that Camp Kagi may have been at Cochran's on Clear Boggy during Phillips' Expedition of Feb 1864.
