Below is a listing of 31 ex-Confederates - mostly Texans - who were in three different Sep 1865 listings. ..These 31 men were stopped at Fort Bowie, Arizona Territory when they were en route to California by Lt. Thomas Coghlan of [Union] James Gorman's Provost Marshal Office, Fort Bowie, Arizona Territory. ..I have identified most the Texans, but have not found the men from the Cherokee Nation, Choctaw Nation, Missouri, and Arkansas.

CLANTON footnote: ..Clanton family tradition states that John Wesley Clanton and his father, Newman Haynes Clanton (1816-1881) or Old Man Clanton of Tombstone, Arizona Territory fame, enlisted in July 1862 in Waco, McLennan Co TX in a military unit. ..Records show that a year later J.W. was in Gurley’s 30th TX Cavalry that initially enrolled July 1862 in the "TX 1st Partisan Rangers" in Waco TX. ..N.H. Clanton probably assumed this was a just a home guard since they had no uniforms, and probably only had no more than two rifles for the whole unit.
