The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Honey Springs Primary Sources

Dale,

I'd love to see those letters, thanks. Please just let me know what I need to do. I also wanted to ask about the uniform of Private Burton Marchbanks of the 30th Texas Cavalry. It is in a museum in Cleburne Texas and claims to be the only surviving uniform from the Civil War in I.T. It also claims he was injured and captured at Honey Springs, paroled, and sent home to die. I know that some of those Texas cavalry units can be confusing but I can find little about to 30th either in the NPS soldiers and sailors system or other online sources. The regiment is listed either as the 30th Texas Cavalry or 1st Texas Partisan Rangers. I cannot find reference to either of these being at the Battle of Honey Springs.
