Re: Honey Springs Primary Sources

Aaron,
I find 2 cards on Burton Marchbanks, Age 32, From company Muster Roll. Dated July 12,1862 at Camp McCulloch,Texas, Capt. Sam'l. Caruthers' Company* 1st Texas Partisans. Enrolled and Mustered in at Buchanan,Texas July 12, 1662 for 3 years. Horse was valued at $200.00 and equipment at $25.00. 65 miles to rendezvous.
Card 2, Dated July & Aug 1863, shows 2 additional items (1) last paid June 30,1863 and (2) Discharged Aug 8,1863.

* This company subsequentiy became company E 30th Regiment Texas Cavalry AKA as Gurley's Regt Texas Cavalry and 1st Regt. Texas Partisan Rangers, it was organized August 18,1862 with 10 companies A thru K.( The letter J was not used. )

Note: there was at least 2 Camp McCulloch in Texas, 1 near Tyler and 1 near Waco, knowing that Buchanan is in Johnson county, I would bet on the 1 at Waco being 65 miles away.

Mike
