The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Honey Springs Primary Sources

I would have sworn that the uniform at Cleburne, Texas, was from the 20th Texas Cavalry! So much for my memory, I guess.

If you're interested in a copy of the "Honey Springs Battlefield Trails Guide", it's available from the Friends of Honey Springs, as is Whit Edwards' book "The Prairie was on Fire: Eyewitness Accounts of the Civil War in the Indian Territory."

You may contact the battlefield office via honeysprings@okhistory.org for information on cost and s/h charges. (Since sales of these items does not benefit our hosting website I'll not list details here.)

If you have specific questions about the Engagement at Honey Springs (or Affair at Elk Creek as defined by General Cooper) please write me at ralphjones@okhistory.org and I'll do my best to answer your question(s).
