You may have confused the 20th Militia Brigade, Texas State Troops and the 20th Texas Cavalry.
.
My web page defines the 20th Militia Brigade of TST from from Erath County, Johnson County (Hood County formed from Johnson in 1866), Palo Pinto County, Parker County, and Tarrant County. And of course, Cleburne is in Johnson County TX.

Since both Bass' 20th TX Cavalry and Elmore's 20th TX Infantry are mentioned several times in my book, I too have been trying to remember where they were recruited.
