To futher beat this horse to death; I don't have McGarrah's widow's pension appl. but in Desmond Allen's index, she lists service as "Jno. Miller's 1 Cherokee Ark. Cav." As you know, Miller was a captain in both of Bryan's commands and between those times, commanded a company in Wells' Texas Battn.
Brother William McGarrah's appl. reads the same way.
