"Foreman, John Anthony - Cherokee, was born June 10, 1844, the son of Stephen Foreman. He served in the CSA and later as a major, Third Indian Home Guards, Union Army, during the Civil War (1). In 1880, he lived alone in Cooweescoowee District. Elected judge there in 1883. He was a resident of Roswell, New Mexico, in 1900. He died in January, 1919. Married Eliza Blythe and Nancy Amanda Smith. He was the father of Josephine Gertrude Foreman (2).
