J.M. Bryan's Rangers & Benton County, Arkansas

Hi, I’m curious about J.M. Bryan’s, Cherokee Partisan Rangers and any information about their mustering/organizing in Benton County, AR in July 1862. According to his Oklahoma Confederate Pension application, my gggrandfather (Frank M. Davis) enlisted July 12, 1862 and was “organized in Benton County, Arkansas and attached to Co. D. Second Cherokee Regiment.” It also states that he “never was transferred.” The "organized in Benton County, Arkansas and attached" statement leads me to believe that he may have started with J.M. Bryan's Cherokee Partisan Rangers since he would have had the same company commander (Joseph L. Martin) the entire war. Any ideas on how I can research or validate this? Thanks! Mark
