The Hindman papers are found in the Peter Wellington Alexander collection owned by Columbia University in NYC, which has been partially published in the OR supplement but much was left out. I have transcribed the entire collection while completing my Marmaduke Papers at the same time. The Hindman papers have been cited by many authors, but no one has put the collection together into a completed format. The Hindman collection consists of his letter Order books, his letter books, his Order books, Letters from all his commanders to him, plus a record of letters, messages and orders transmitted. There are a number of reports, found in the OR Series one; but it would seem that in comparing the published with the original manuscripts there are interesting differences. Bartels at Two Trails wishes to publish these books along with Marmaduke's papers to supplement the Trans-Mississippi Order book. When completed into reference book format a researcher will be able to lay out in great detail events of the Trans-Mississippi for 1862 - 1863. Editing is in progress for the final stage of the Marmaduke papers, while the final transcription stage for Hindman is under way. Am currently transcribing D. H. Cooper's letters to Hindman which are of considerable interest to the IT.
