hello there!
in regard to the site of the battle of middle boggy, 2nd lt. riley perryman, co.h,1st creek mtd. volunteers, csa, states that "the federals came out...as far as MILL CREEK (my emphasis) in the chickasaw nation and went back from there...". this is from whit edwards' book, "the prairie was on fire." this would seem to put the battle in question a good bit west of the atoka/boggy depot area and into the chickasaw nation, south of ada, and north of tish. i really believe this is the route phillips took towards gainesville, where he hoped to hook up with texas unionists, who were thick in that area.
