Who was Capt. F. W. Miner
In Response To: Re: Who was Capt. F. W. Miner ()

Terry Justice,

I thought I posted the following update, but it wasn't there. ... guess I didn't hit the "post" button. ...

MINER, Frederick W., b-1832 CT; m-Anabella; 1860 Lamar cen p183; 1880 Lamar cen p230, U.S. District Attorney; Maxey's Lamar TX Inf. Battn; Stevens' 22d Cav-1st Indian TX Regt, Co F, Lt, Capt (Lamar Co, TST), A-109, A-112
.
The 1880 Lamar Co TX cen list F.W. Miner as a "US Dist Atty.."
.
Yankees, esp. newspaper publishers, must have had had a rough time getting along with Confederate officers, i.e., Albert Pike, Chs. DeMorse and F.W. Miner. Frederick Miner published the PARIS PRESS (newspaper) before the War. per THE HISTORY OF LAMAR COUNTY (TX) p90 edited by Skipper Steely, and of course Chs DeMorse published THE NORTHERN STANDARD.
