I vaguely recall this and it seems, if my memory serves me, it was a post-war account, maybe a participants memiors, that said they were going to force Blunt to keep a bigger garrison at the fort for fear of Watie coming up the north (east) side of the river (via Greenleaf Praire, Bayou Menard Mountain, and across Bayou Menard to the fort from the south). I try and hunt for this over the weekend.
