Re: Douglas H. Cooper's Nov 3, 1862 Letter

Cooper was in the Choctaw Nation on Buck Creek, southwest of Scullyville and Ft Smith.

Part of Watie's Regiment was camped around Webbers Falls on the south side of the Arkansas -- I think Watie and about half his regiment were around present Grove on a scout and to protect their families from Pins. Lt. Col. Parks was in command of the companies camped around Webbers Falls.

The Creeks were encamped around Ft Davis (Cooper says Ft Gibson which is on the other side of the Arkansas. They were on the south side of the Arkansas around Ft Davis and the Creek Agency -- what is now the north side of Muskogee.)
