The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Confederate Home, McAlester, OK

Oletia:

Thanks for your input! The date and place of birth for John Thomas BAZER/BAZAR matches what another family researcher told me years ago. However, the date and place of death you found is way off the mark. John T. BAZAR is supposed to have filed a pension in Oklahoma in 1916 and died on 31 OCT 1920, we think in Oklahoma, but perhaps not.

Monocacy, Maryland was the site of an important battle in July 1864 in Maryland. However, the 12th Louisiana Infantry was helping defend Atlanta at the time and John T. BAZAR was at home in Louisiana on parole from Vicksburg awaiting exchange.

Danny Knight posted a query on the Civil War Prisons Message Board and I replied "at length" there.

Thank you for the information!
