Your above posting about "Montford Johnson" illustrates why it is important to history to comapare the "state" militia listing with the Confederate military unit where most, but not all, enlisted. ..After studying 240 militias of now 34 North Texas counties, I'd guess that about ten percent either dropped out or were added ... i.e., from the geographic area of the bulk of the said militia members. ..And since Civil War era records are so sparse, these militia records scream IMPORTANCE to the area's history.
