H. A. Whaley, 2nd Lieutenant, Company B, Bourland's Border Regiment, Texas Cavalry, assigned as Acting Adjutant August 15, 1863, stationed at Gainesville September, October, & November, 1864, Salt Creek in January 1865, no further records*

Bourland's "Border" Battalion, which was the nucleus of this regiment, was formed of five companies, A to E, which had been organized in April and May 1863. Independent companies of Texas cavalry were added to the battalion from time to time unit a regimental organization of ten companies, A to K, was completed about August, 1864

Company B was organized April 28, 1863

Some of the members of this Regiment previously served in the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Texas State Troops

There was also a Private Hank Whatley in Company B

* There are no company muster rolls in his file, only Regimental Returns
