50th Anniversary Banquet

Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks

April 17th, 2010

You are cordially invited to attend the Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks very special banquet commemorating our 50th Anniversary, on April 17, 2010, at the University Plaza Hotel. Also included in the celebration, are activities at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, beginning in the morning on that Saturday. As both current and fromer members, we have attended monthly meetings where we have heard speakers on many topics relating to the Civil War, learned about southwest Missouri’s importance in history, been entertained, enjoyed "show and tell" meetings, taken trips together, and a number of us have also volunteered to promote not only our Round Table activities, but those of Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, also demonstrating our support through the years for this southwest Missouri treasure. Now we have the opportunity to join together to celebrate half a century of continuos Round Table activities, and to recognize those who came before us in the years since 1960 when the Round Table was founded by some of Springfield’s leading educators and citizens. We encourage you to show your support of the Round Table and attend this event. Enclosed you will find an outline of the activities for the events, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the battlefield, and concluding with the banquet that same evening. Also, enclosed you will find the registration form and return it as soon as possible. We look forward to your support in continuing the next fifty years in promoting interest in the Civil War and preserving Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield.
Sincerely yours,
John C. Purtell, Chairman, 50th Anniversary Committee, Vice President, Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks
