Perhaps they were in that area-for the interest of the 'Salt licks'about that area,they were a big deal back then?

A settlement of Cherokee was established about six miles east of Fort Gibson, on the south side of Bayou
Menard and Joesph Coodey did a thriving business there, also a owned a Grist Mill there.

Note;Based on a bio- found, I'm fairly sure it open in 1862 but the Field's and Coodey's not known which one owns the store at the time of the Civil War --they all fleed south to Chickasaw Nation Red River area-and into Tx, after Honey Springs.
